Sacraments - First Eucharist, First Reconciliation & RCIC
Within our Faith Formation Program, students are prepared for
the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Eucharist. In Reconciliation
and First Eucharist, the parents are asked by the Church to take
the lead in sharing its teachings about Reconciliation and Eucharist
with their children. For many parents, this is a scary thought!
But our experience over the years has proven that it not only can
be done, but is one of the most meaningful faith experiences families
ever have. It will update your adult understanding of our faith
and help you to treasure gifts from God that we all too often take
for granted. The Church of the Crucifixion, Church of the Good Shepherd and Holy Trinity Catholic Church staffs are available to help you;
we want to support you in your responsibility and assist you with
a series of meetings and materials that will enable you to work
with your child.
It is important for the parents to understand, that before a child
can receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Eucharist,
that they be enrolled in the Sacramental Programs whose dates and
times are shown below. Simply sending your child to classes on Sunday,
is not enough preparation to receive these Sacraments. They must
be enrolled in the Sacramental Programs and fulfill all requirements.
First Reconciliation Meetings 2011 for Parents/Guardians will be held on October 20 and 27, two manditory meetings to begin preparation for the Sacrament of Reconciliation for Students in Grades Two and above who have not received the Sacrament. Children must be enrolled in a Catholic School or a Faith Formation Program. Please mark your calendars to attend the combined three parish free-standing program designed to assist you to prepare your children for this sacrament. The First Reconciliaton calendar will be given to parents and guardians at the mandatory meetings.
First Eucharist Meetings 2012 for Parents/Guardians - On January 19 and 26, 2012, we will hold two mandatory meetings to begin preparation for the Sacrament of Eucharist for Students in Grades Two and above who have not celebrated the Sacrament and are attending the Faith Formation Program or attending a Catholic School. Please mark your calendars.
