Vision Statement for Religious Education
Catechetical formation is a lifelong process which involves nurturing the faith of all children, youths, and adults, including people with special needs. This process includes: learning about God and our Church; developing a relationship with Jesus; preparing for the Sacraments; and living committed lives as disciples of Jesus. Because catechesis is the sharing of faith, we strive to be people who are faith-filled and knowledgeable — people who are growing in faith ourselves, and sharing our faith with others. We desired to nurture and foster a dynamic religious education program, true to the teachings of the Church, which will permeate all facets of our parish community.

Grades Pre-Kindergarten through 5:
Parents wishing to enroll their children in these classes should call the Religious Education Office on 410-766-5070 ext 20 and make an appointment. In order to enroll a child, parents/guardians must be registered members of the Parish. To register in the parish please call the Parish Center Front Office at 410-766-5070 ext. 10.

Classes begin immediately after the 9 AM Mass on Sundays. Parents or Guardians may walk their children to the classrooms. We ask that you do not enter the classroom until the teacher is present to welcome you. Parents and Guardians are asked to depart as quickly as possible so that class time can begin. When classes are over, parents of students in Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 1 should come to the classroom doors promptly at 11:15 AM. Please be prompt because when parents do not show on time the younger children become very anxious and concerned. For dismissal of students on the second and third floor, we ask that the parents meet them coming out the center door of Monsignor Slade. Students attending class in basement rooms will exit the lower door (next to Educare). Grades 2-5 will be dismissed at 11:20 AM.

Special Education Program
This program brings the love of God to special-needs students and their families. Classes are held in small groups or one-on-one which enables them to work at their own pace. We meet on Sunday mornings in Monsignor Slade
classrooms, following the 9 AM. Mass. Classes conclude at 11:20 AM. The students prepare for Sacraments as they are ready, and participate in the Sacramental classes with a support system in their Religious Education Classes.

Christian Initiation Process (RCIC) for Grades 3 and above:
Classes begin September 26 for students Grade 3 and above who are unbaptized, and or uncatechized. The program is designed to guide the students on a personal journey to the discovery of Christ in their lives. Children meet weekly on Sunday mornings immediately following the 9AM Family Mass.
